HOST A BLOCK FOR SANTA VOLUNTEERS

Downtown Winnipeg Biz logo

The "Host A Block For Santa" program with its Block Brigades help ensure that the viewing public has a safe, friendly, fun, entertaining and memorable experience for the 2010 Winnipeg Santa Claus Parade.

The Parade route has been divided into sixteen distinct blocks. Each block has a block captain/MC, a very visible volunteer Block Brigade of 12-20 people, communications personnel, entertainment, food and beverage supplier, media sponsor, medical, security, social networking co-ordinator, and charity representatives from Share the Warmth and The Christmas Cheer Board.

With the large number of spectators expected for the 101th year of the Winnipeg Santa Claus Parade, crowd viewing areas, site care, effective volunteer deployment and liaison with professional services is of the utmost importance. The Host a Block for Santa Block Brigade will help ensure this happens.

The Brigades will help with deploying/supervising the pre-Parade entertainment and activities, ensuring a safe viewing area for spectators, monitoring crowds during the Parade, providing a "Green Team" for site care (before, during and after the Parade), providing support for the activities of the Parade Charities (Share the Warmth and The Christmas Cheer Board) and create a festive, fun, safe, and memorable atmosphere for their Block.

The "Host a Block For Santa" groups also organize some pre-event activities in their block (tours, entertainment, etc.). A mini block party atmosphere is created.

The main responsibility for those involved in Host a Block for Santa is to bring along their enthusiasm, energy, creativity and a holiday spirit to ensure all the children and young at heart have a magical time at the 2010 Winnipeg Santa Claus Parade.

Volunteerism, fun, energy, enthusiasm, and the belief that all children young at heart should have a magical experience at the Winnipeg Santa Claus Parade.
