INTRODUCTION

Since the very first Winnipeg Eaton's Santa Claus Parade in 1909, the annual seasonal Parade has been an integral part of family life in Winnipeg and surrounding areas. Manitoba Hydro and JCI Winnipeg (The Winnipeg Jaycees) are proud and honoured to be able to continue such a special and memorable tradition. This is the 6th annual collaborative event and builds on the Winnipeg Jaycees continuous involvement with a Manitoba Santa Claus parade since the early 1970s. The Winnipeg Santa Claus Parade attracts over 60,000 people to downtown Winnipeg to watch the Parade and participate in the affiliated events. In 2009 over 50,000 households watched the Parade live on Shaw TV.

Thank you very much for your interest in participating in this memory-making event.

JUDGING & AWARDS

This year's Parade theme is "Share the Warmth". Participants are asked to consider this theme when designing their floats.

The 2010 Judges are a group of community minded individuals who have played an active roll in our city.

During the Parade the judges will be located in the transit shelter in front of The Bay Downtown. Prior to the Parade they will do a "walk about". Be sure to keep your Parade faces on before and during the Parade. Don't be surprised if you are asked questions about your float and the inspiration of your creation.

There are three judging categories.

The "WOW" Award - is presented to the most outstanding and magical entry. Special consideration will be given to those that incorporate the Parade theme - Share the Warmth.
- Cash prize of $500

The 3 "I's" Award - is presented to the most innovative, interesting and inspirational entry. Special consideration will be given to those that incorporate the Parade theme - Share the Warmth.
- Cash Prize of $250 - Commercial Entry
- Cash Prize of $250 - Non-commercial Entry

The "AHH…" Award - is presented to the entry whose lights, colour and sounds all come together to create the best ooh and ahh. Special consideration will be given to those that incorporate the Parade theme - Share the Warmth.
- Cash Prize of $250 - Commercial Entry
- Cash Prize of $250 - Non Commercial Entry

All winners will be presented with their cheques and awards at the Volunteer and Awards Appreciation Evening. The event will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at Manitoba Hydro Place, Gallery, 360 Portage Avenue.

In the spirit of the season, the Parade would also like to extend an invitation to all Parade volunteers and participants to a special evening of thanks. The event, along with the Awards Presentations, will be held in the first floor Gallery of Manitoba Hydro Place, 360 Portage Avenue. A spectacular back drop will be provided by the Festival of Trees and lights.
